About Us

The purpose of the Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC) is to provide opportunities for people with common interests in outdoor activities to participate in those activities together. The OAC is not formed for pecuniary or financial gain, and no part of the assets, income, or profit is distributable to the advisor or officers. We also cooperate with other similar organizations to support the preservation and improvement of natural resources in our area.

Membership is available to any interested person, without regard to race, color, creed, sex, national origin, or sexual orientation. Membership shall entitle each member and the members of each member's immediate family residing at the same residence to participate fully in all OAC functions and activities.

Club members must be 18 years of age or older. Individuals under 18 years of age may participate in OAC trips if accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Membership dues are currently $10 per year and are due and payable on or before the 1st day of the year. Dues are subject to change per approval of 2/3 of the membership present and voting at the August general meeting.

Individuals must sign a release waiver and complete a health statement in order to participate in all OAC trips. The health statement will be updated every year at the time of membership renewal. All individuals participating in OAC trips are representatives of OAC and are expected to observe all rules and regulations of local, state, and national parks, and commercial outfitters, and behave in a responsible manner.

Club member trip deposits are not refundable unless the trip is canceled by the trip leader. Upon cancellation, the member will receive a refund of his deposit minus any contribution to a cancellation fee of over $15. Of course members can always find another member to replace him or her on a trip.

The regular OAC meetings shall be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at the West New Bern Recreation Center in New Bern, NC. Any exceptions will be publicized at least one month in advance.
